Meet the Board: Nicolia Gooding
For the next several weeks, I'll be introducing you to the members of our fantastic Board. Today, I'm delighted to celebrate our extraordinary Board President, Nicolia Gooding!
Nicolia, my esteemed colleague and friend, has served on OIGC's Board since 2018 and as board chair through the past two years of unprecedented sector change and incredible organizational growth. Although she's worked tirelessly, she's accepted the mantle for one more year and I couldn't be happier to have her shepherding her successor and our growing organization in her sunset year on our Board.
Nicolia has continually been a force to reckon with! Known for her powerhouse solos in the Gospel Choir, she's graced audiences with her inspiring voice for years. In the summer of 2021, she fearlessly embraced the role of Board President, and we've been collaboratively planning, scheming, troubleshooting, and daring to dream big!
An incredible hype-master and enthusiastic advocate for Diversity, Youth, and Music, Nicolia's vision knows no bounds. She's been an incredible support for me as we've navigated challenges, fearlessly engaging in difficult conversations with grace and an open heart. Her dedication to learning, active listening, and unwavering support exemplify her exceptional leadership. Nicolia not only dreams big but meticulously considers every detail. A true champion of acknowledging contributions, Nicolia's gratitude is like a warm embrace that leaves you feeling valued and understood. And she juggles it all while working hard to be the best wife and mother she can be - and rockin' her career advocating for youth in Alameda County as a social worker, AND supporting her soror sisters, to boot!
Get connected with Nicolia and follow #OIGC and our impactful work to witness Nicolia at work. With luminaries like Nicolia leading the way, our organization's future shines brighter than ever! 🌟
