Welcome to OIGC’s Four New Board Members!
The Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir (OIGC) is thrilled to announce the addition of four exceptional individuals to our board of directors. Each new member brings unique skills and a deep passion for music and community, aligning perfectly with OIGC's mission to spread joy, unity, and spiritual uplift through gospel music!

James Fisher
Jim had known about OIGC for some time and had seen them perform at a fundraiser in the early 2000s. However, his decision to audition and join the choir came after OIGC's joint concert with Cantare con Vivo in 2011. He officially became a member in 2012, holding roles in Choir Leadership and as a Musical Section Leader for the basses. Feeling they had the time to commit to it, Jim eventually joined the board. His motivation to stay with OIGC stems from the extraordinary experience of singing with the talented choir members and their remarkable director. Beyond the music, Jim believes OIGC sends a powerful message about creating harmony in diversity, which they are proud to showcase to the world.
Sharon Hymes-Offord
After seeing OIGC perform alongside Centare, Sharon was immediately inspired to get involved. She auditioned soon after and joined the Gospel Choir in 2014, and when she was invited to apply for a position on the Board, she accepted. Sharon's continued commitment to OIGC is driven by her deep love for the organization and her strong belief in its mission of inclusion and joy.
Wil Wright
Wil's journey with OIGC began during the Lavender Pen Tour with SFGMC in 2017, which sparked his deep connection to the organization. After freelancing as a production manager for OIGC performances following the tour, he continued to nurture his ties with the OIGC community. In fact, he has referred the last two production managers, Storm and Nevin, to OIGC, maintaining a steadfast relationship with this vibrant artistic community to this day.
We are excited to see the positive impact these four individuals will undoubtedly have on the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. Their diverse talents and shared love for gospel music will help us continue to inspire, uplift, and connect communities through the power of song.
