MLK Day 2023

MLK Day, January 16, 2023, honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his commitment to using nonviolent means towards social justice.

Celebrate MLK Day at the African American Museum and Library’s Film Festival, starting at 10:30 AM. Registration is required for each screening:

MLK Day of Service

“MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. During the last quarter-century, the MLK Day of Service has grown, and its impact increased as more Americans embraced the idea that citizenship involves taking an active role in improving communities.” ~AmeriCorps

Visit OaklandMLK.org for ideas and resources from their 40 Days of Service at Home Actions.

Let Monday, January 16 be a day “on” to reflect on our individual actions, and how we can continue to further Dr. King’s legacy of peace, community, and inclusion.
