Meet the Board: Sharon Hymes-Offord
πMeet the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir's dynamic Board of Directors!π
I have recently been introducing you to members of our fantastic Board and today, I'm going to jump to one of our NEWEST Directors!
π€ Introducing the remarkable Sharon Hymes-Offord! π€
Welcome Sharon, a retired Risk Management professional with a passion for community and music. This multi-talented professional served more than a dozen years as Director of Risk Management for Contra Costa County and is also a licensed para-legal, private investigator, and worked in insurance claims for many years. She is sincerely impressive! With extensive experience in problem-solving, her strategy and planning acumen are invaluable assets to our board. Her years of navigating complexities and anticipating challenges will undoubtedly enrich our organization's decision-making process. Besides serving the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, Sharon serves on the board of Imani Community Church in Oakland and Progressive Transitions, an organization dedicated to protecting women and children against domestic violence.
Beyond her impressive career successes, Sharon has a fantastic Fun Fact: She was the first-ever soloist at the Chase Arena ribbon-cutting ceremony in Fall 2019, where her unforgettable solo on "Oh Happy Day" with her beloved choir inspired Governor Gavin Newsom to invite OIGC to sing at the Capital Tree Lighting - an honor that has continued in the years since!
Sharon's passion for music and community is unmatched. As a devoted and adoring grandmother, Sharon's nurturing spirit extends to all facets of her life. Join me in celebrating how fortunate OIGC is to welcome Sharon to our Board!
